Peter March, DDS
Dr. Peter J. March’s father, Dr. James J. March, began March Family Dentistry in 1954, and it soon became apparent that a love of dentistry had reached a second generation.
Dr. Peter March attended the University of Illinois at Urbana as an undergraduate, after graduating from Peotone High School. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery, with high honors, from the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry, in Chicago and took over the practice in 1984.
In 1992, he received his fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry by taking over 500 hours of continuing education and passing a proficiency exam in general dentistry. In 2003, he received his Mastership by taking an additional 600 hours of continuing education. In 2013, he was awarded the AGD’s Lifelong Learning Certificate for completing still another 600 hours of continuing education. He is also a clinical evaluator for Clinical Research Associates, the “Consumer Reports” of dentistry. Dr. March serves as a mentor instructor for Practical Clinical Courses, helping teach other dentists in various dental disciplines.
In addition to his dental practice, Dr. March maintains an active membership in many professional and community organizations, including:
- American Dental Association
- Academy of General Dentistry
- Illinois Dental Society
- Kankakee District Dental Society (a past president, two terms)
Dr. March’s community activities include serving as a past chairman of the Village of Peotone Planning and Zoning Commission, Rainbow Council Boy Scout Executive Board and Council President, and Chamber of Commerce member. He is currently serving as the Village President (Mayor). His hobbies include flying his small plane, traveling and snow skiing. Dr. March resides in Peotone with his wife, Elizabeth. Jim, their eldest son, is an aerospace engineer (a.k.a. rocket scientist) in Maryland with his wife, Angie, and their children, Saylor and Jackson. Their daughter, Allie, has worked within the practice as an assistant, hygienist, and office manager since 2003. Allie and her husband Kevin have provided Dr. March with three wonderful grandchildren. Their younger son, Dr. Edmund March, joined the practice in 2016 and resides in Peotone with his husband, Kameron and daughter Alleria.
